PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA EVALUASI PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA BERBASIS WEB MENGGUNAKAN MOODLE DAN HOT POTATOES DI SMPN 1 PANTI

Abstract

The high speed development of information technology and communication in education has led new system of education which is known as Learning Management System (LMS). One of the well-known softwares of LMS is Moodle. Moodle is a software which is used to create and build courses/ trainings/ education using internet as the basis. Moodle can be used to make quizes not only by online, but also by using Hot Potatoes. Hot Potatoes is a software which is easy in application. The test items are imported from the Hot Potatoes to Moodle quickly. The combination of Moodle and Hot Potatoes is very good to create an efficient, effective, and interactive media of evaluation which uses web. Online examination is more convenient than the conventional one. Students can click the answers directly and quickly. They don’t need to write the answers on the answer sheets. The system is also easy in its operation. Before doing the examination, students have to login and entry their password and insert their number. Every student gets his test item. The test item is 40 multiple choice items which was set randomly. By using the system, ttudents are difficult to cheat. The online examination is set in certain duration. It is a count-down duration. When the time is up the result of the examination of each student can be displayed directly. The system encourage the students to do the examination and to study hard to improve their score. The result of a try-out of this system as the media of evaluation in teaching Mathematics showed that it was very effective and efficient. It reduced the fund. It was also an interactive media. Besides, it was practical and very easy to apply. The test items could be up-dated quickly. For the teachers, the media was very useful to evaluate the result of examination. By clicking the score button, the teachers and the students knew the scores of the examination directly. The media is also accompanied by the system of score analysis and test item validity.
