KEEFEKTIFAN PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID (PFA) SEBAGAI PERTOLONGAN PERTAMA PADA KORBAN BENCANA & TRAUMA

Abstract


Shortly after the disaster, some survivors might have suffered shock, confused, disbelief, fear, anxiety, dreamy, and fatigue. Early intervention is badly needed to overcome the effect of acute stress. Psychological First Aid (PFA) is the answer of the gap between the number of victims and the limited number of mental health workers in the field because PFA can be done by society who are in charge of emergency response PFA presents as a simple model and is expected to help recovery by caring of each other. This research are held to know the effectiveness of the use of PFA as the first aid of disaster victims and traumatic study is the result of thoughts by collecting material through electronic databases with the keywords Psychological First Aid, trauma, and disaster. 20 research articles and online news were obtained, from 20 articles were simplified in accordance with the theme into 10 articles (systematic review, guidelines, original research, etc) and 4 online news. PFA is considered effective because it consists of some components such as Safety, Calm, Connectedness, Self-Efficacy, Group Efficacy, and hope, this proved in line with the principals provided by world stress handling association.  PFA is not an effective cure nor a substitute for mental health care, but researches and experiences for many years have shown that PFA can be useful tool to help people with acute pressure if it was done by someone who has the proper training in PFA.
