STRATEGI KOPING MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI D-III KEPERAWATAN MENGHADAPI UJIAN SKILL LABORATORIUM

Abstract


Laboratory skill exam (OSCE / OSCA) which is a method of assessing students or graduates of more complex health education, in this case, anxiety will follow students along with the stressors they receive. This can be caused by several factors, namely the supervisory attitude of the examiner, the atmosphere of the exam, student skills, the exam itself and the internal feelings of students. Choosing is a coping strategy that is wrong or not in accordance with the conditions can lead to an increase in anxiety itself. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of anxiety students in facing skill exams and coping strategies used by students to overcome their anxiety. Method: This study used qualitative phenomenological method with Focus Group Discussion techniques and in-depth interviews conducted for students, lecturers and laboratory staff. Results: Most participants experienced a mild level of anxiety, then, it found that the coping strategies used by students when facing a skills exam are focusing on the material, discussion with friends, listening to music and looking for a quiet environment. Conclusion: From the results of the study it is known that the coping strategy carried out by students is focusing on problems not based on emotions. This result is expected to maintain and improve the ability of students' coping strategies when facing exams so that anxiety does not interfere with the psychological condition of students during the exam.
