Pengaruh Variasi Massa Ragi dan Waktu Fermentasi Sampah Enceng Gondok (Eichhornia Crassipes) Terhadap Kadar Bioetanol The Effect Of Variations In Yeast Mass And Fermentation Time Of Water Hyacinth Waste (Eichhornia Crassipes) On Bioethanol Levels

Abstract


The increasing demand for and consumption of fuel oil (BBM), which is a non-renewable natural resource, has resulted in a shortage of fuel. Alternative fuels such as bioethanol are one of the solutions to overcome fuel scarcity. Water hyacinth contains cellulose which is large enough so that it has the potential to be used as bioethanol. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in yeast mass and variations in fermentation time on the amount of bioethanol content. The stages of making bioethanol are; pretreatment, hydrolysis, fermentation, and distillation. The optimum bioethanol content test results were obtained at the yeast mass of 25 grams, namely; 55% for 4 days fermentation, 62% for 5 days fermentation, and 79% for 6 days fermentation. The longer the fermentation time and along with the increase in yeast mass, the higher the bioethanol content produced.
